Helen joined Goodwins in February 2018. Specialising in all aspects of family law, Helen has built a varied caseload ranging from complex HNW (high net worth) matters — with some involving international elements — to straightforward divorce matters involving modest assets.
Helen has practiced family law exclusively since 2008. She originally trained as a barrister and was balled to the Bar in 2005, and cross qualified as a solicitor in 2010. Helen advises and assists a wide range of clients to make a transition from a difficult stage in their lives to the next chapter.
The majority of Helen’s work focuses on divorce and the division of matrimonial finances, often with complex twists and involving complex business structures and assets abroad.
Helen also has experience in complex child matters including international relocation disputes, abduction matters involving Hague and non-Hague countries, as well as matters where parental alienation is suspected. Helen has worked alongside experienced and reputable independent social workers and psychologists who are specialised in this field.
Helen’s areas of expertise include:
- Divorce and jurisdiction
- Financial remedy proceedings
- Dissolution petitions
- Pre and Post-nuptial agreements
- Cohabitation disputes (TOLATA)
- Non-molestation and occupation orders
- Cohabitation and separation agreements
- Children act proceedings — especially cases involving parental alienation
Helen’s clients have described her as a caring solicitor who takes the time to listen, offers a firmer, robust approach in the right situation, with a good eye for detail.
