FAQ: How is Inheritance Tax calculated?

The tax rate is 40% of the value of the estate above the threshold. An example would be:
- The estate is worth £450,000, so the taxable amount of that is £125,000. 40% of £125,000 is £50,000, so the Inheritance Tax will be £50,000.
