FAQ: What happens after court proceedings during a divorce in the UK?

Posted on: 19 January 2016 by Goodwins Family Law Solicitors

If you’ve had to settle your case in the courts, and have been granted a divorce, then this would ideally be the end of the matter, and you can now move on with your life. However, this isn’t always the case as each divorce case is unique.

The fact that you had to go to court in the first place means there was some level of disagreement, so there will be obligations which one party – or both – will have to stick to. These could include the payment of child maintenance – as well as commitments pertaining to custody and support.

Financial settlements will have to be adhered to, which could include sale or payments which need to be made. The sale of the matrimonial home may require attention, and there may also be vital documentation in need of amendments (your will, for instance).

To ensure that you remain completely aware of any obligations following your divorce – as well as managing your expectations and rights – it’s always advised to seek the services of a proven divorce solicitor. Contact Goodwins Family Law Solicitors today. We offer fixed fee consultations to provide initial advice on your divorce case, and ensure a personable, sensitive and professional service at all times.
