You absolutely have to obtain the permission of the other parent, or person with parental responsibility before taking your children abroad. Doing so without permission is child abduction and is a criminal offence. If you have a child arrangement order that says the child must live with you, you can take the child abroad for 28 days without needing permission, unless there is a court order that states you can’t.
Needing some professional advice on your child custody? You can contact Goodwins Family Law today to book an initial fixed fee consultation for a confidential discussion and we’ll be happy to help. We are situated in Harrow, London, with on site car parking and accessible from public transport links. Alternatively, if you are overseas we possess the capabilities to arrange a Skype call with you if it is more convenient.
