FAQ: Can my partner and I use the same solicitor for our prenuptial agreement?

Posted on: 2 January 2018 by Goodwins Family Law Solicitors

You cannot use the same solicitor as your partner for a prenuptial agreement. Both parties must instruct their own independent solicitor.

If you do not obtain independent legal advice when entering into a prenuptial agreement, then your agreement may be ignored and disregarded by the court during formal proceedings.

Needing some advice on prenuptial agreements? You can get in touch with Goodwins Family Law today to book an initial fixed fee consultation for a confidential discussion and we’ll be happy to help. We are located in Harrow, London, with on site car parking and accessible from public transport links. Alternatively, if you are overseas we possess the capabilities to arrange a Skype call with you if it is more convenient.
