If a former spouse or partner who has previously supported you financially dies without making reasonable provision for you under the terms of their Will, you have the right to apply to the Court to alter the terms of any relevant Will and receive money from the deceased’s estate. In most cases, the legal proceedings required to establish the claim are made through the family Court system and under the same principles.

We are able to offer expert advice if you wish to pursue such inheritance act claims. An initial fixed-fee interview will usually give us enough information to advise you whether or not your claim has merit.
